Renal allograft biopsies sometimes sample the kidney capsule and extracapsular
fibroadipose tissues. Histopathological changes in the immediate subcapsular
parenchyma
should not be used in grading acute rejection or chronic allograft nephropathy.
Suture granulomas and fat necrosis are commonly observed findings without
diagnostic significance.
