In this more intense example of moderate
acute rejection, the crypts are widely separated by an
extensive inflammatory infiltrate filling lamina
propria. The specimen is not optimally oriented, and
the villous architecture is therefore difficult to
assess. Nonetheless the surface epithelium is present
and there is no luminal exudate to suggest mucosal
erosion.
