This renal allograft biopsy showed virtually all glomeruli
to contain fibrin thrombi. Clinically, the patient had
disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC) for which no
obvious cause was found. The patient responded to discontinuation
of cyclosporine, and initiation of a tacrolimus based
immunosuppressive
regimen. Similar cases of putative tacrolimus induced DIC
are also
reported.
