Figure 2. In acute allograft rejection the target of the inflammatory infiltrates are the acini. This micrograph shows marked acinar inflammation with associated evidence of acinar cell damage (cell drop-out, architectural disarray). Neutrophils (occasionally forming micro abscesses) are commonly present in heavily inflamed acini.
