- Preservation Injury

Preservation injury is a general term that refers to the injury
incurred at any time during the agonal phases of the donor's life,
harvesting the organ, cold preservation and implantation into the
recipient. Thus, there are multiple potential insults that could
contribute to the histopathological findings, including donor disease,
drug insults, hypotension, trauma and metabolic abnormalities;
cold storage of the organ in preservation solution and similar
insults in the recipient.
