Figure 2. This higher magnification of the donor biopsy with severe macrovesicular steatosis shows the large fat globules within the hepatocytes. Note that most of the globules are larger in diameter than the nucleus of the hepatocyte, which can be used as a rough gudieline for distinguishing between micro- and macrovesicular steatosis.
