Late after transplantation, hepatic artery collaterals can develop and hepatic artery thrombosis may be associated with only focal bile duct necrosis(arrow), as seen in this photomicrograph. Note the focal leakage of bile into the underlying connective tissue. Healing of such a lesion can later result in biliary tract strictures.
