Note the inflammatory cells inside the basement membrane of the bile ducts, which show cytoplasmic vacuolization and mild nuclear pleomorphism. In the Banff schema for rejection, this finding would receive a score of "2" for bile duct inflammation and damage, if similar changes were seen in more than an occasional bile duct.
