Small areas of hepatocyte necrosis usually begin to
appear between 6 and 24 hours after transplantation in
presensitized recipients.
In clinical samples, this is usually one of the first
reliable and reproducible observations that suggest
a untoward reaction in such patients. When this
situation is encountered, it is important to check
the class and titer of the preformed antibodies,
the complement levels and the persistence of the antibodies
after transplantation.
