Figure 10. Needle biopsies of the periphery of the liver are notoriously unreliable for establishing the diagnosis of hepatic artery thrombosis. The biopsy may be entirely normal, or there may be centrilobular hepatocellular(CL) necrosis, as shown in this photomicrograph. The portal tracts(PT) show a mild, non-specific mononuclear inflammatory infiltrate.
