Humoral Rejection

Humoral Rejection
This is the gross appearance of an allograft that failed because of severe humoral rejection, precipitated by transplantation across the major ABO blood group barriers. Note the marked enlargement and widespread hemorrhagic necrosis. This allograft from a pediatric recipient weighed more than twice its pre-implantation weight.
